ప్రతిష్టాత్మకమైన పృధ్వీ- 2 క్షిపణి ప్రయోగం విజయవంతమైంది. ఒడిశాలోని చాందీపూర్‌లో గురువారం ఉదయం తొమ్మిది గంటలకు విజయవంతంగా ఈ క్షిపణని ప్రయోగించారు. స్వదేశీ సాంకేతిక పరిజ్ఞానంతో రూపొందించిన ఉపరితలం నుంచి ఉపరితలానికి వెళ్ళే వ్యూహాత్మక క్షిపణి పృధ్వీ-2కి 350 కిలో మీటర్ల దూరంలోని లక్ష్యాలపైనా దాడి చేయగల సామర్థ్యం ఉంది. ఉపరితలం నుంచి ఉపరితలం లక్ష్యాలను చేధించే పృధ్వీ -2ను భారత్‌ 2010, డిసెంబర్‌ 22న విజయవంతంగా ప్రయోగించింది. సైంటిస్ట్‌ రిసెర్చ్‌ డెవలప్‌మెంట్‌ ఆర్గనైజేషన్‌ ( డిఆర్‌డిఒ) పర్యవేక్షణలో టెస్ట్‌ ఫైరింగ్‌ ఉంటుందని అధికారులు తెలిపారు. రెండు ఇంజన్ల సామర్ధంతో పనిచేసే పృధ్వీ - 2 తొమ్మిది మీటర్ల పొడవు, ఒక మీటరు వెడల్పు కలిగి ఉంది. శత్రు క్షిపణులను కనిపెట్టి మట్టుపెట్టడంలో చాకచాక్యంగా పనిచేస్తుందని వారు తెలిపారు
